Portfolio Partners Around the Bay in a Day 2007 - less than three weeks to go! While there is still time for that big training ride this coming weekend, most of you should be feeling pretty fit and ready. We have over 13,000 entrants already for this year’s event, which means there are lots of riders out there training.
While you are training, we strongly urge you to practice good riding etiquette to look after yourself and your fellow riders when out on the roads. See our tips below
For those of you who entered prior to 22 June, your jerseys are in the post. We look forward to seeing lots of the jerseys out and about!
Take care in the final weeks leading up to the ride. Eat your greens, drink lots (of water), practice safe cycling etiquette, train hard and have fun! Also keep an eye out the Rider Checklist that we will email to you.
See you soon!

Ride Guide
This year we have produced a comprehensive Ride Guide. Please take time to read it as it contains important information about the Ride.
Riding Etiquette
With lots of riders around you on the day, it is extremely important that you are mindful of your surrounds. Here are some tips for riding in a bunch that you should practice before and on the day:
- Don't slam on the brakes!
- Ensure you are always looking ahead.
- Ride consistently and be predictable.
- Ride directly behind the wheel in front. Try not to overlap the wheel in front.
- Use a camelback if you "wobble" when putting your drink bottle back into the cradle.
- Point out obstacles - shout it out. Let everyone around you know what is approaching or if the bunch is slowing down and/or stopping.
If you are inexperienced in riding in a big group, don’t ride too close to other riders and never overlap your wheel with others. Don’t be offended if a group ask you to leave – riding in a group is all about trust and enjoyment - you wouldn’t join a group of unknown people in a restaurant without being invited!
Don't forget that you are on a road, so all the road rules apply and you should follow the directions of the Route Marshals on the day.
Your enjoyment on the day is paramount, so please keep these tips in mind.

Still Calling Route Marshals...
A Route Marshal is Bicycle Victoria’s ears, eyes and voice on the road. Route Marshals watch for any hazards or traffic issues and provide lots of encouragement to the riders along the way.
We are still in need of Route Marshals for within a 25km radius of the Start/Finish Area at Alexandra Gardens, at Sorrento and Queenscliff and some parts in between!
Group training sessions for Route Marshals will be conducted shortly and all marshals will be provided with a uniform and lunch on the day of the event.
If you know of someone who might be interested please get them to send us an email
Help us to guide you!.
